The Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen focuses on addressing major societal challenges like climate change and the increasing strain on natural resources. It gathers data from diverse sources, including Danish forests, Greenland’s Arctic environment, the Earth’s core, statistical databases, interviews, and satellite observations. As part of the Faculty of Science, the department contributes to Denmark’s largest natural science research and educational institution.
Role in TIMBERHAUS
The University of Copenhagen develops projection tools for predicting future forest resource availability in relation to the built environment. This includes both the biophysical potential for forest growth, the projected availability of the resource and the allocation of the forest resource to various products.
