Building climate-smart cities with timber construction in Baku

Join the discussion at the World Urban Forum in Baku on sustainable and circular building solutions

Cities are increasingly looking for innovative ways to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency and create healthier urban environments: in this context, timber and bio-based construction are becoming key solutions for more sustainable urban development.

At the World Urban Forum in Baku, TIMBERHAUS will be present at the booth of Urbasofia, aligned with the forum’s theme, “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.” The session is called “Rethinking How We Build in Cities: Climate-smart and Circular Construction with Wood” and it will bring together city representatives, industry experts and practitioners to discuss how circular and wood-based construction approaches can move from pilot projects to mainstream practice.

The session will also highlight the work of  TIMBERHAUS, which supports the transition towards low-carbon and resource-efficient construction systems through sustainable wood value chains, innovation and collaboration between cities and stakeholders, and of Woodcircles, another sustainable project aiming to develop circular solutions for wood in construction.

Participants will explore key challenges and opportunities related to circular construction, urban governance, market readiness and policy frameworks for scaling climate-smart building solutions in cities. Architects, planners, public authorities, researchers, companies and students are warmly invited to join the discussion and exchange experiences.
