Siena in focus: TIMBERHAUS releases new video presenting the pilot site of Tuscany

Filmed in the historic city of Siena, the new TIMBERHAUS video features local partners and the city’s role as a pilot site for timber construction in Europe

TIMBERHAUS has released a new video filmed entirely in Siena, offering a unique glimpse into the historic Italian city and its role as one of the project’s pilot sites; the video highlights how Siena is contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable timber construction solutions across Europe.

Filmed in the streets and landscapes of Siena, the video provides viewers with a visual journey through the city while showcasing its involvement in the project. Siena is one of three European pilot cities, alongside Berlin and Baia Mare, where TIMBERHAUS solutions will be explored and demonstrated in real urban contexts.

The video also features a short interview with two representatives from the Municipality of Siena who are partners in the project. In the interview, they explain their role within TIMBERHAUS and why Siena represents an important testing ground for innovation in timber construction. The city’s commitment to sustainability and its capacity to connect tradition with forward-looking building practices make it an ideal environment for exploring new approaches to wood-based architecture.

The video includes some scenes from the TIMBERHAUS Summit held in Siena in November, which brought together a wide range of stakeholders – particularly from Tuscany and the area around Siena city. The event provided an opportunity for policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, and local actors to exchange ideas on how timber construction can support the transition toward more sustainable and circular building practices.
