TIMBERHAUS 3rd newsletter

Welcome back to TIMBERHAUS newsletter!

In this edition, we are excited to share upcoming activities at the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026 in Brussels, including two interactive workshops exploring sustainable and inclusive futures, and look back at the recent TIMBERHAUS Stakeholder Summit held in Berlin.

From regenerative materials and circular construction to collaborative urban transformation, TIMBERHAUS continues to connect people, nature and innovation across Europe.

From 10–13 June 2026, TIMBERHAUS will take part in the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels — one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion in the built environment.

Throughout the Festival, TIMBERHAUS will be present at two collaborative stands:

  • together with the sister project WOODSTOCK
  • alongside fellow ICONS projects INHERIT and EHHUR

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the project teams, discover innovative approaches to sustainable architecture, and explore how regenerative and underutilised wood resources can contribute to Europe’s green transition. The Festival will also offer workshops, networking opportunities and co-creative activities bringing together citizens, researchers, designers and policymakers from across Europe.

TIMBERHAUS is also present at the World Urban Forum in Baku, supporting the transition to a low-carbon construction system.

We also look back at the latest TIMBERHAUS Summit held in Berlin, which brought together local and regional actors to discuss the future of timber construction and sustainable urban development.

The summit created an important platform for dialogue and collaboration between public administrations, researchers, universities, architects, planners, private companies and organisations from the forestry and timber sectors. Participants explored challenges and opportunities across the timber value chain, from sourcing and production to regulation, financing and implementation. Key barriers identified included limited production capacity, fragmented value chains, complex permitting procedures and insufficient links between education, research and industry practice.

Stay connected for more updates and insights from our pilot cities and partners as we continue working towards a more sustainable and regenerative built environment.
