Welcome to the first issue of the TIMBERHAUS newsletter!
We are happy to launch this communication channel where we will keep you updated on the latest developments of our ambitious European project dedicated to circular, sustainable, and intelligent timber construction solutions.
About the project
TIMBERHAUS is an innovative initiative funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Danish Technological Institute. The project brings together 19 European partners, including research institutes, designers, industry players, municipalities (such as Berlin, Baia Mare, and Siena), and sustainability-oriented organizations.
The main goal? To promote the use of underutilized wood resources – such as heartwood and post-consumer timber – by developing AI-based technologies for processing and prototyping. These prototypes will then be integrated into building projects that respect local traditions and prioritize human well-being.
Where we are now
The consortium is in the midst of its first major activities: developing technological prototypes, co-designing with partner cities, and shaping strategies to support Europe’s decarbonisation pathway in the construction sector.
TIMBERHAUS project coordinator, Anders Kjellow (DTI) states: "TIMBERHAUS has made a strong start, thanks to excellent collaboration between the partners and exciting progress on project targets. We’re looking forward to continuing our contribution towards making the construction sector more renewable and circular."
In this issue you will discover: the current progress and upcoming steps of the project, the first examples of co-creation with our partner cities and some communication material for the project promotion.
Thank you for joining us on this journey toward a greener, more creative, and more sustainable future. Follow us on our social media channels and stay tuned for the next updates!
